Once an outfit is unlocked players will have that outfit permanently, even if they choose to replay a chapter that took place before they found it. Additionally, players who pre-ordered Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy also received an outfit for each character, but these are outfits that can be found in-game as each chapter is explored.
There is at least one outfit that can be unlocked in nearly every chapter of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. Chapters 9, 11, 15, and 16 are the only exceptions because they focus more on moving the plot forward and boss fights with little-to-no exploration elements.
